How the use of a facilitator could help you discover the answers to the hard questions.

Many businesses now use a facilitator. Why? This is because a facilitator helps those involved in the process discover the answers to the hard questions for themselves.

They encourage those involved to discover or rediscover what is important to them, and facilitate the emergence of solutions to the challenges that involve change.

They find the path less travelled for a reason – it is often more innovative, creative and satisfying. I have seen this in my work as a business facilitator and business executive coach.

As a business coach, I can help a company through a process to evolve a strategy or change a culture. In a coaching session, the answer emerges from the participants, not from me.

I can help a company evaluate a range of strategic options. In a project, the options that will work best for them emerge from the participants themselves.

In facilitation, I can help a group of individuals divest or reorganise a business, or create or dissolve a relationship. In a process, the new organisation or the new relationship emerges from those involved.

As a consultant and facilitator, I can help a group of people make a big decision. In a process, the group’s decision emerges from those involved.

This is why I believe that a business facilitator could help you discover the answers to the hard questions for yourself.

Bad decisions can be as bad as no-decision. The decision by the committee is commonplace.

Discovering your potential is not about the destination; it truly is an end in itself.

Facilitation is used by companies when they are in decision mode, they are at a crossroads in their business venture. And they are in need of clarity. They are looking for the great minds in the room to give their opinion, their advice, their insight, their vision, or their guidance to help us find our way forward. It’s an incredible art that at times can feel like magic. And yet it’s how we get to the wisdom that’s within the group. That often is not expressed but it’s beneath the surface and the facilitator’s job is to bring it to the surface.

It used to be only businesses that used facilitators, but not anymore, now it’s teams, groups of individuals and government departments. These professionals help people to discover the answers to the difficult questions that, without their help, can take years to find.

Being a facilitator resonates with people who are curious, creative, and compassionate, who know how to listen, who are passionate about what they do. That is what has inspired me to be a facilitator and help businesses to succeed, discover and search for the hidden gems that lay within us all. With a combination of continued learning opportunities, training, and support, I have been able to ask powerful questions, identify issues, understand tensions, design ideas, help teams take action, and measure change. It’s about being results-driven for the people that I work with.
